Here's the happy ending story of Jasper:
We adopted Jasper last week and are absolutely thrilled with him, he is a great addition to our (2-person) family and it feels like he's been with us for years. He adapted very quickly and we were able to get him groomed the day after we got him. We took him to our personal vet we've used for years at Caton Crossing in Plainfield, IL. We had a full physical, blood work, rabies done, etc. but could not get him neutered, micro-chipped or his kennel cough due to them finding he has heartworm disease, a full male and female worm in his heart. When all is clear on his heart, they said he can have his microchip and neutering done. We started treatment immediately and they really worked well with him and feel we have it controlled now but said it could take 3-6 months to see if all are out of him. In regards to the $25.00 deposit we made for his neutering, we were going to just send a letter to you saying to keep it for donation because we know how hard it is for shelters sometimes to find food, supplies, etc. – it was the least we could do for helping us get such a great pet! I am attaching a new picture of Jasper after his grooming, he is very happy and his health will only get better in time, we thought we would just let you know and thank you again! Update February 2010: One year after starting heartworm treatments we are happy to say Jasper is heartworm free and feeling great! We almost lost him last April after he had a very severe reaction to one of the heartworm treatments, but he pulled through and is such a trooper. After he got the all-clear on the heartworms, he was finally able to be neutered and microchipped and he is very healthy. We are so thankful for him in our lives every day! He is a very spoiled dog, but he deserves it and we love him very much. We couldn't imagine life without him! ![]() |
